The Beginning Of A Week, In A Month, Of A Year

The weekend is over. Did you even realize it had happened? I have to keep asking what day it is. I found some more things on the Internet to help you pass the time at home when you aren’t working, cooking, cleaning, refereeing your children, or napping. Enjoy and be kind to yourself (and others).

I love to learn new things, but sometimes, like right now, it is hard to ingest information that doesn’t have an immediate effect on my here and now. That’s why Ted Talks are great. The information is presented in a way I can understand and they are short for those of us whose attention span is starting to get shorter and shorter. The two below made me laugh.

Did you know that you're 30 times more likely to laugh if you're with somebody else than if you're alone? Cognitive neuroscientist Sophie Scott shares this and other surprising facts about laughter in this fast-paced, action-packed and, yes, hilarious dash through the science of cracking up.

What I am reading this week.

What I am reading this week.

Frasier and Niles Tell Their Dad to Stay At Home is one of the funniest things on McSweeney’s Internet Tendencies right not. If you don’t know who Frasier and Niles are, don’t bother- it will make not have the same impact. If you don’t know who they are, but want to know, you can watch old episodes of Frasier on Hulu.

Things I would love in my house but can’t afford:

This couch.

This wallpaper.

This apron sink.

This shower.

I am always looking for new, creative ways to write letters. I found this infinite flipper video on YouTube and thought, "That doesn’t look too hard.” This project probably should be done by somebody who owns a ruler and cares about things being in alignment—like my husband. Below are both the instruction video and a video of my mess. As soon as I find the right envelope, someone is getting this mess.

Don’t forget to take a minute for yourself this week. if you can’t get outside, this is a great alternative. Pop on some headphones and enjoy the rainy walk. Have a wonderful week.
