I'm feeling self-conscious about being judged by the custodian at work. I have not met the night custodian, (let's call them BJ) but I know BJ comes by and empties my trash each night- whether it needs it or not. I am a snacker, so it usually needs it. Right now it is full of at least six bite-size Twix wrappers. (*blush* They are really small.) I tried to cover them up with something healthy- the peel from a clementine- but now they are on the bottom, and isn't that the first thing you see when you dump your trash upside down? Also, the bag is clear, so it's a no-win situation.
I wonder if BJ has nicknames for the individuals in each cubicle/office. Will I get something cute like "The Twixster" or will BJ curse "the pencil hoarder with a sugar addiction" tonight? Maybe I should leave a special treat for BJ. Something that says, "Thank you for cleaning up after my stress eating and obsessive pencil sharpening." Hmm, I'll have to think on that one.
Random thought: You know how when hotel housekeeping cleans the bathroom they put a little paper band around the toilet seat so you know it is clean? And you don't really appreciate it because you were too busy oohing and aahing over the cool mini shampoos and lotions?
Anyway, wouldn't it be nice if we could have specialized "bands" for when we clean at home--sort of like bragging to everyone in your household that you actually cleaned the refrigerator, or wiped the toothpaste spray off the mirror? Who wants to design these for me? We could do an Etsy shop and make tons of money. If we use recycled paper with soy-based inks and package them in reusable containers, we can say we are a "green" company. Oh my gosh, this sounds exhausting. Never mind.
