Comfort

My six-year-old daughter Moira got a new comforter for her bed yesterday. I have always called them blankets, so comforter was a new word for her. She woke up this morning and climbed into bed with me looking distressed. She told me that I forgot to turn on her comforter. When I asked what she meant she said that there must be a button or switch that I forgot to flip because she didnt' feel very comforted last night. She said, "Isn't my comforter supposed to comfort me and massage my belly and stuff?"

Lesson learned: Comforters don't live up to their name. Mommies are much better at that job.
